Pink Distraction

I LOVE the new job, the people are great and I am enjoying the atmosphere. I almost finished the crocheted socks but ran out of yarn on one sock only (?!) Ooh I can tell you the lion thick n quick in blue is just divine.
I was tired today because instead of getting a good nights sleep last night I was distracted by some ribbon yarn and made myself a tiny purse. Smallest son wanted to pose for that. LOL. Next I'm going to do something fuzzy with the lime green lion boucle and fun fur. Oh, but first there is a knitted bag to get started on... More on that later. Also here I am in my new office, yay!

Bring it on

Amazing news: I finished Hellokitty and she looks...like frekin Hellokitty!!!! I am WonderHooking Womannnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Sons have declared it a national holiday (in other words an excuse to consume sugar) Eric has learned to pronounce Amigurumi and has made his first official request: a crochet version of HelloCthulhu. I'm considering it, too. What do you guys think?

Hello Kitty Amigurumi

I'm still planning on doing the socks, but last night I decided to try the mysterious Hello Kitty pattern without a picture that I found here. It was kinda fun doing it without a picture, and she came out SO CUTE!! I think that I will use this picture to do her eyes, and maybe add on a ruffly for the dress. Also I finally finished the scarf I was knitting and started serious work on the funfur one for cancer awareness that we are doing in the snb yahoo group. Yay! Lavendar is for general cancer wareness, but there is a crazy list out there of all the colors so if you are knitting in honor of someone you can knit it in the color of whatever cancer they had. Ghoulish but thoughtful. Apparently all these scarves are going to be collected and made into a huge fuzzy banner. Anyway, it IS "fun"fur.
Only two more days till I start my job. Ack, wish me luck. And if anybody has advice on how to refrain from setting upon best friend's jerk boyfriend with a flamethrower, do let me in on it. Here in the South we Ya-Ya's get violent when our girlfriends are dating mean drunken jackasses. Grrrrrrr

Amigurumi Morphs into a Bag, Finally!

I finished the "dinosaur bag" at 4am and got up this morning at 9. What was I thinking?! I had coffee, plus I could smell the possibility of shopping in the air so I got up. Sure enough, Dinosaur bag and I were able to spend 14.95 on a duck down full sized comforter from JC Penny's that still had the tag on it saying $140.00. This was...as my boys say...SUHWEEET!!
Here are pics of completed bag. As you can see I ran out of lilac and finished off with white, plus I added some lil flowers to a few sections just to be spring-y. That is oldest son showing off Dinosaur bag.
I was reading Norah's blog here and I was inspired to try some socks. Maybe these? But oh, tomorrow is the knitting socks class at Michael's! So I might trade back n forth between fun crochet socks and attempted knitting.

Amigurumi Dinosaur

Just for variety I started working on this bag, and I told the boys it was an Amigurumi dinosaur. Scary part is that since I babble about yarn so often, they took me seriously. In unrelated news (yes, I HAVE a life) I got a job that I really wanted. Paycheck=more yarn...

Original Amigurumi Panda

I made oldest son's favorite, Mr. Pan-Pan. This Panda was not from a pattern but I remember how I made it and wrote it down if anybody wants to know. He turned out kind of cute. Plus, I was fooling around with an extra piece leftover from Mr. Mouse and came up with the very simple but supercool Amigurumi POO!! Yay!

New Amigurumi!

So I finally got busy again on middle son's mouse. I don't recommend dark yarn for amigurumi if you can help it because it gets tiresome trying to find your loops. Mouse is finished and looks halfway decent although I wish he had bigger ears. Also, I decided to stop using such big rounds, and wing it with my next creation...

Knitting in my spare time

I finally gave up on the bunny pattern and switched to another bear/mouse. This one will be for middle son and he wanted a mouse anyway. In my spare time I am working on a beautiful garter-stitch knitted scarf with my square needles and some yummy hand-painted wool. I have an idea for a decent amigurumi panda pattern, too. When I finish mouse #2 I'll try it and post the pattern. Tonight is key lime pie and sour apple margaritas at Mistress Gigglebox's house! Yay!

Other stuff aka I go crazy with my new camera

Here are some other things I have done lately with yarn! My granny square thingey in progress is from the better homes and gardens learn to crochet book pattern. The stole (giant grey thingey) is free-form. The little yarn holder bag (isn't that cute?!) is from a pattern I got from Crafty Beaver at http://motleycruiser.blogspot.com/2005/10/yarn-ball-wrist-holder.html#comments

Next amigurumi attempt!

So here is my next project: the bunny from Stitch N Bitch The Happy Hooker :) Here is his belly and his nose. The last picture is the floor after I frogged the rest of his head last night since it was too small. Apparently watching SVU and counting stitches are not conducive to big-headed stuffies.

Got my camera!

I finally got a digital camera, so I can move over from the lame yahoo 360 to a real blog. Mostly I want to share my amigurumi attempts with other, equally obsessed and confused crafters. I will put up the images I just took as soon as I can figure out, well, just exactly how this bloggy thing works. If anyone wants patterns just ask, mostly I am going from Stitch n Bitch or online stuff.
