Hello Cthulhu

The most feared god of the geek underworld has been immortalized in yarn. I have crocheted his awfulness, complete with colorfully green snotting crocheted nose. The wings were complicated because every wing pattern I found online I managed to mess up, so I finally just made one up. The rest of him pretty much follows the Hellokitty pattern I made a few weeks ago. Hope somebody out there is amused enough to COMMENT. I love comments.
Also included is my first celly case, since I got a cellphone. Its just a knitted swatch sewn up.

Comfort yarn

I need something soft and pink to knit. I finished my pink thingey I had been doing and made it into a purse for a friend. Right now I'm distracted by this internet buzz about Kevin Underwood. What really makes people do these things? His blog reads like a modern version of Death of a Salesman. I mean, who would know this guy was going to snap? I mean, I like to compulsively shop, I am white middle class, and I have social anxiety. But I'm not secretly plotting to kill or eat anyone, much less rape their corpse. EWWWWWWWW! After two hours voyueristically reading through his boring posts and various sensationalized news articles, I can remember why I kept reading that kooky advice I got last year: don't read the news, it just drags you down. Totally true I feel like I need a brain scrub.

All hail the pink bunny of doom!

We worship Easter the old-fashioned way around here- admire the azaleas, enough chocolate eggs to make the kids puke, and a honeybaked ham. Today was such a good version of Spring- even Eric's mother was low-pitched. We had friends over, I got to play with yarn, nobody stressed me out, the boys played well... youngest son even brought me a specially handpicked bunch of flowers WITH NO ONE ASKING HIM TO!! Life is sweet.

hot water

I'm in big trouble. I got paid and blew my entire paycheck on girl stuff. Ok, just SOME yarn. And a ham, for Easter. And I did pay the car insurance. Got a mani and pedi....a cell phone!!! And some shoes, clothes including pjs and underwear, and, uhhhh, an afghan book! I suck. But here is something so, I don't know, campy? Eric's mother gave him a valentine. I finally took a picture of it. We are talking Ex MOTHER IN LAW FROM HELL, people. Also included a pic of the hello cthulhu in the works. HIs tentacles came out pretty good!

How To Avoid Knitting a Shawl

Use your circulars and knit a purse instead! It was my first time on circular needles. It goes so fast, doesnt it? I didn't like it so much though, no purling. I like purling. I sewed a little blue flowered lining inside and crocheted a strap. I think it looks pretty good for a first try. I was feeling industrious this morning so after I did a freking TON of dishes, I crocheted all three dogs collars. Of course they ran right out for a swim. Now they have colorful filthy fuzzy yarn necklaces.

Mutant Snails

I tried to make Roxy's cute snail last night, but I think my yarn came from cotton plants that grew near a nuclear waste dump... Anyway Roxy said I could link to her pattern etc :) Also, my boys came to visit at work today and we picnicked in the park. I took pics because the park is such a lovely surprise in the city especially in the Spring. PS: Cynthia McKinney is embarassing herself. Good thing she is too stupid to realize it.

Put the Lime in the Coconut

I didn't use a pattern for this little bag. I just crocheted it the other night to match a lime green shirt I wore to work. Actually I used the lion brand sz 13 hook (boucle is a biyatch) and did this: ch 8, slp st in first chain, ch 10 in the circle, ch 1 and turn, *2 st in each single st, next row 1 st in each st,* repeat around till you get a large floofy thing, then switch to alternate color, 1 st in each st, next row dbl st in each st, add fun fur and *dbl st in each st* repeat 2 rows, then ch till you get a long enough strap, attach to other side and bind off.
Went to the Tuesday morning sale and found some nice yarn 100%wool!! Also a PERFECT hook holder!!!!!!!!
Still loving the new job- yay!

Giant Smurf Feet

Here are the comfort socks. Lots of fun to make, but really bulky so be sure you live in Canada or something if you want to wear these. There is a lot of activity going on in the yarn underworld this weekend- between Annie Modesti's shoddy treatment at the unnamed Gwinnett yarn store (everyone is shocked in snb) and my Douglasville knitting meetup tonight, there's also a bizarre sale on knitting kits including circ needles at Target, and Tuesday Morning is having a yarn sale on Tuesday... Just oodles of yarn-ish trivia floating around in my brain.
